Black Mountain, at the height of fall foliage

Perhaps I’m a bit jaded, because I’m lucky enough to live in New England and leaf peep by just looking out my back window.  But this fall, my resolution is to really see things through new, un-jaded eyes and so I just loved these suggestions from the Mount Washington Valley tourism board on different ways to “peep a leaf” in the White Mountains.  These are my favorites:

From the seat of a train: The Cog Railway or the Conway Scenic Railway are both great options.  My son is obsessed with trains, and he’d just love riding the train as we peeped the leaves.

From a gondola, ski lift, or zip line: Options include the Wildcat Gondola or the high-speed quad at Attitash or Bretton Woods.  There’s also a zip line at Wildcat and high ropes courses at Monkey Trunks.  I love heights, so the zip line sounds like so much fun, but I’d probably keep my eyes closed as I went down.  Of course, you could also hike through the mountains, but who wants to do that?

From the table in the dining room: According to the Mount Washington Valley tourism board, there are more dining rooms with a view in the Mount Washington Valley than anywhere else in New England, and I believe it!  What’s better than eating a great meal?  Eating a great meal while checking out some amazing scenery.
