Los Angeles for The Entitled – Movie Locations #4

It should come as no surprise that women are much, much smarter than men. But with that being said, my attempts at making my girlfriend drive me all over the greater Los Angeles area to find locations from my favorite films backfired yesterday.
It was mean.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
As I mentioned earlier, I have begun this ‘entitled’ project all over the area, finding the places that I feel like I deserve to see while I’m here. We’ve covered Swingers and True Romance, and I plan on finding a few more.
But when I found out that not far from where I lived was a school that was the local for a handful of my favorite films, I had to go.
When you first get to Marshall High School, you can immediately tell why it was constantly popping up in the cinema, what with its massive entryway and tree-lined yards. But a quick walk around the premises and you’ll start to remember the scenes that were shot here:
Grosse Point Blank: The doors immediately bring back to mind where John Cusack attends his high-school reunion before having to come clean – by, well, murder – to Minnie Driver about his true profession. As most films go, the interior was shot elsewhere, but for the true Cusask fans, it’s worth a photo.
Speaking of interiors, if you’re really nice to the custodian he might walk you down the hall to a room. From the looks of this room, you might think it is just another boring classroom – and that’s just what Van Halen wanted you to think before filming ‘Hot For Teacher’ there [see 1:46 into the video for some great views…of the classroom, that is].
Or, speaking of hot teachers, perhaps a certain archeologist-turned-treasure hunter trying to stay focused while a student flirts with him during a lecture? If Indiana Jones stepped foot on the premises, then it should be a no-brainer.
What’s that? You’re not really into movies? Then how about walk the same halls that Pharcyde walked while filming their video to ‘Runnin’ – all shot at Marshall High.
There are countless other films that filmed here- Transformers, Nightmare on Elm Street, Bachelor Party and Rebel Without A Cause – more than enough to justify me making the girlfriend drive me over.
And what did I hear when we pulled up?
‘Oh! This is where they shot Grease!’

For a former actress, she had a hard time selling me on the fact that she didn’t know this before.
And sure enough, we walked around to the football field and there were the bleachers that so many dreams would be made.
But if that wasn’t enough, she would also let me in on the fact that ‘this is also where they filmed Buffy!’.
I had heard enough – my trip out to see where Dr. Jones fought the Nazi’s and Shia fought the Decepticons was tainted. I almost decided not to write this.
But when my downstairs neighbor’s daughter told me that ‘the school is where Miley Cyrus filmed her video to ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ I felt the need to tell someone.
Visit Marshall, just go knowing these horrible facts.
Photos are all taken by me. I like them. You might too.
