Spend a weekend at a Dallas bed and breakfast
Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, Dallas has a lot of different activities and attractions, and what better way to immerse yourself into what the city has to offer than by staying in a bed & breakfast. Here are four to choose from in neighborhoods near downtown.
1. The Corinthian is a historic home built in 1905 near the hustle and bustle of downtown but also offers peacefulness for a quiet stay. Original hardwood inlaid flooring, original wood paneling and antique furnishings throughout the house take you back in time to the early 1900’s. In addition to a full breakfast, also included in the room rate is an afternoon tea, dessert, fruit, non-alcoholic beverages, wine and cheese. Their signature dish is Old English Toffee, rich, buttery and chocolate coated with hand-chopped pecans. The rooms themselves run from $95 to $195 and include bath robes, a DVD player, telephone, Internet and cable.
2. Featured in Texas Home and Living Magazine, The Guesthouse on Allen Street is another intimate and elegant bed and breakfast in a historic Dallas neighborhood. Comfortable and private, this architecturally acclaimed accommodation is a luxurious alternative to staying in a hotel. They offer afternoon wine and cocktail service, DSL wireless Internet and a private entrance behind an electronically locked gate. A one night deposit is required to make a reservation, and pets and children are not allowed.
3. Bailey’s Uptown Inn is within walking distance of some of Dallas’ best shops and restaurants and only one block from the trolley system that serves the downtown and Uptown area. The antique furnished rooms have comfortable sitting areas with high speed Internet and Direct TC. They offer continental breakfast during the week and full breakfast on the weekends. This B&B has combined privacy and a homey atmosphere while fulfilling the needs of business travelers as well. Several rooms feature a fireplace, whirlpool bath and private porch. Prices range from $179 to $279 a night.
4. Built in 1904, The Daisy Polk Inn is a restored home furnished with European and Northeastern USA antiques. They are ten minutes from Love Field and 19 miles from DFW airport. They provide freshly baked muffins and scones every morning. The B&B is named for its long-time owner, Miss Daisy Polk who was an up and coming star in the Dallas opera, and lived in the house for over 60 years. The rooms run from $139 to $169 a night, with a minimum two night stay required on the weekends and holidays.
