In the land of organic, local and more vegans per square inch than anywhere else in the world–this store seems to be thriving. Notice the chain lock. Don’t want anyone stealing the alligator sirloin meat, do ya now?

I’ve eaten alligator before…tasted like chicken. Where is this store??!
Thanks for today’s crackup!
It’s not keeping many people out with that plastic chain link.
There’s a few places in San Francisco that serve wild boar, alligator, buffalo, etc. If you don’t want to advertise for this store, can you at least divulge the city it’s in? I’d love to try some alligator sirloin.
I’ve actually eaten every variety seen in that freezer: boar, frog, alligator, duck, elk, antelope. Add: squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, blue heron, robin, dove, quail, deer, rattlesnake, turtle. That’s all I can think of for now. It’s a southern thing. It’s a country thing. Yum yum.
actually, India has more vegans than anywhere in the world.. and as far as the States go, Oregon actually is the king of no meat eaters, Portland being the Mecca… regardless this picture isn’t real i can tell its been shopped due to the pluralization of the shadow matrices on the left window… totally fake. lawl jk.
@ sage The store is located in Palmdale. It’s on the road you take from LA to Vegas.
@ jason, thanks for the data on vegans, but I must correct you, the photo is totally real. What you see is our amateur photography skills in action.
@Patricia, are you sure it is at Palmdale? Palmdale is not on the road from LA to Vegas (assuming you take I-15N).
I think that the padlock is to keep whatever is in there from getting out.
“pluralization of the shadow matrices on the left window”
It’s a conspiracy man!!
Why is there a lock on this???
Not a lot of vegans on the way from LA to Vegas. Those tend to be Barstow speed freaks.
As a former resident of Palmdale (now Lancaster, I know, moved real far), I can say that the restaurant is PROBABLY Charlie Brown Farms in Littlerock, CA. You’ll run right through the town if you take the 138, which is what many of us take to get to the I-15. They sell a lot of rare meats there — I’ve had buffalo and ostrich burgers, both of which were very good.
They thrive because they have something like 100+ delicious varieties of shakes.
I can’t confirm for sure if this is the place, but it’s a tiny little town, and the store isn’t even a chain… I’ll hardly complain about advertising for ‘em.
Its probably a chinese store, they will eat anything
“more vegans per square inch than anywhere else in the world”? Surely you mean the US. You do know that in many parts of the world, you will find huge communities of people who don’t eat meat? You could travel to many predominantly Hindu population centers in India and not find a single carnivorous human. You wouldn’t find a single shop or store that even sells meat.
Why wouldn’t this thrive in California? I’m not sure about the alligator, but I’m pretty sure everything else in that case is found inside the state. Contrary to the popular conceptions, there is a lot more to CA than the big cities. Also wild game is far healthier and “greener” than even the most responsible “free range” meat source.
this is lame. xenophobic much?
california is also one of the most culturally diverse places on earth. some of these meats can be locally harvested from nature… now that’s sustainability. and of course they have alligator sirloin locked up…. it’s gotta be pretty freakin’ expensive!
This place is in Auburn, Ca, it’s called longhorn meat co. and they kick ass when it comes to rare meats. We got python from them once.
California is swarming with more diverse fine dining restaurants that serve wild boar or alligator than any state I can think of. Wheres the blog poster from Utah?
Yum I see some choices I would like to try!!!
Actually I think the store is in Littlerock, CA, close to Palmdale to the east.
I agree with Tadrith.
It might be Charlie Browns in Little Rock.
The road (Pearblossom Hwy) turns into Palmdale Rd.
I’ve passed Charlie Browns several times on my way to California from Arizona, and if you’re travelling that road, stop there! They have so many homemade candies, different animal jerkeys, novelty items and prank stuff. It’s a really cool store, and totally worth an hour of your time.
Check out Harmony Farms in La Crescenta, CA.
The picture was taken at Charlie Brown’s in Little Rock. If you ever get a chance to stop there, make sure you get one of their deep fried twinkies. They are the bomb!
Looks like an NRA refrigerator.
Looks like a cool spread for a meat-eater. Whoops, I can’t enjoy the delicacies as I am a vegetarian.
nom nom nom…
Maybe to stop them all escaping back to the wild?
Cheers
That’s a convenient one stop for canivores!
If God didn’t want us to eat animals, he shouldn’t have made them out of MEAT!!! Uuuummm!
It’s known as a specialty meat section. Due to the cost of the meats it needs to be changed shut. These shops are all over we have one in Yelm Washington. Frog legs are good and turtle soup is delicious. Without meat human brains would not have developed and we’d be sitting in a tree somewhere.
Whats the address to this shop? Amazing
It’s good to eat a different food every now and then. Alligator meat may be a good alternative.
For those who want to try a different meat every now and then, this is the store for you.
THE STORE IS NOT IN PLAMDALE, IT IS CALLED LITTLE ROCK. IT IS 10 MILES FROM THE 14N.
nice one
