Fabulous Beach !

Makalawena is a fabulous beach though it does take some effort to get to. It is a couple of miles north of Kona Airport. If you are going north on Queen K Highway (Hwy 19), after you go past the airport watch for a sign that says "Kekaha Kai State Park"....

Long walk to one of the best beaches ever!

The girls and I had the day to ourselves so we thought we'd visit Makalawena Beach because it was raved about in our guidebook. We found the turn-off from Hwy 19 and thought it didn't look too bad to drive. I had a rental Sebring convertible. Well...we did not get very far! We decided...
