Our Take on Lake Village, Arkansas

For a quiet and romantic getaway, make Lake Village Arkansas your first stop.  You can’t miss with the local Plantation Bed and Breakfast, found on the southeastern most tip of the state.  Reasonably priced, the staff is more than willing to arrange for red roses and chocolates to greet you upon arrival.  Their website is highlighted with photos and links to Lake Village attractions.

Lake Village Arkansas is appropriately named for nearby 5300 acre Lake Chicot, formed from the Mississippi River. Lake Chicot is North America’s largest oxbow lake, and the largest natural lake in Arkansas.  Oxbow lakes are named because they’re U-shaped.  Lake Chico State Park is of distinct historic interest, considering that the remains of DeSoto are reported to rest beneath its surface.  It’s educational and fun for this pet-friendly and kid-friendly family vacation experience in Lake Village Arkansas.

The City of Lake Village maintains an internet presence with useful links to Lake Village lodging and Lake Village restaurants.   Civil War reenactors and historians explore the local museum, cemetery, and Chicot Park, reliving The Battle of Ditch Bayou, fought here.  Check out the photos, maps, documentation and other information on-line  Visit the newly restored Lakeport Plantation House, the only remaining Arkansan plantation home  on the Mississippi River. Thousands of bales of cotton were shipped from Lakeport, down the Mississippi all the way to New Orleans.
