Thirty miles south of Flagstaff, Sedona share's much of Flagstaff's alpine climate and flora, and in the winter lucky visitors might see the red rocks covered in fresh snowfall. Sedona makes for an ideal romantic retreat, with several deluxe resorts and spas, amazing hiking, dining, and golf. It's a popular wedding and honeymoon destination thanks to its stunning backdrop of scarlet hills as well. For the past several decades, Sedona has been considered the epicenter of spiritual and new age activity in Arizona. This is primarily due to the existence of several vortexes - areas that possess unique electromagnetic properties. You can hike up to one of the vortexes, or take a special guided tour. They are located at Schnebly Hill, Boynton Canyon, Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock, and Bell Rock. While in Sedona, visitors will also find an abundance of yoga studios, massage and wellness centers, aromatherapy shops, and stores selling crystals, candles, and tarot cards. However, the true superstars of Sedona are the red rock formations that tower above the town. Unique formations have their own names, and most are excellent places for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and camping. These include Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Chimney Rock, Eagle Head Rock, Rabbit Ears, Coffeepot Rock and Snoopy. Whether you believe in power of the vortex or not, Sedona has an undeniable attraction and a unique energy. Don't be surprised if after returning home from Sedona you find yourself strangely pulled to return here again.
