Do It Like a Local: A Weekend Guide to Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale, Arizona is one of my favorite "hang out" towns. If you want posh, it's got posh. If you want low-key, it's got low-key. If you want romance, Scottsdale can provide. If you're looking for a little adventure, this Southwestern town has that, too. You can come back a dozen times and have a completely different experience each time - that's one if Scottsdale's many charms!

The Hotel Valley Ho is just plain funky. You'll find decor here that's very unique and unlike the cookie cutter hotel chains that surround us. On-site dining is excellent, though all of downtown Scottsdale's dining and shopping destinations are just a short walk away. Daily rates range from affordable to splurge-er-iffic.
This is THE best place in Scottsdale to have tacos. Plus, as their name indicates, they have a stellar selection of tequilas. Right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, it's a refreshing stop on a tour of all of the surrounding stores and art galleries.

Scottsdale Fashion Square is fancy, fancy, fancy. Fancy people, fancy cars, fancy stores, fancy dining. I, personally, enjoy heading to the area just to people-watch. There's lots happening all around the Fashion Square - so much more than a mall that the word doesn't even enter the mind when visiting.
Old Town Scottsdale encompasses four square blocks in southern Scottsdale. It is a mecca for southwestern art and culture, and provides some of the best dining and shopping in the state. Spend the day strolling hand in hand with your significant other!
The Sugar Bowl is my absolute favorite ice cream parlor, ever. The ingredients are home made, right down to the ice cream and waffle cones. Their sundae combinations are downright sinful, and the decor of the soda fountain's bar is downright 1955. Don't leave Scottsdale without stopping at this landmark!
