Weekend Getaway in Phoenix with Kids

Phoenix is the great sprawling metropolis of Arizona that's widely known for it's heat, golf and wide array of shopping outlets. But what you might be (pleasantly) surprised to know is that it's also a great place to escape for the weekend with the kids! Here are some fun and family-friendly things you can do while in Phoenix, without melting the contents of your wallet.

's Voted one of the nationsTop 5 Zoos for Kids, the Phoenix Zoo is home to more than 1,300 animals, including the African Lion and the Sumatran Tiger. The zoo also hosts a wide variety of educational activities that kids will love!
Castles N' Coasters is Arizona's premiere theme park! The park is geared towards children of all ages--there are big coasters, smaller rides, an arcade, bumper cars and a water ride... meaning fun for the whole family!
Event times vary, but Friday nights typically feature drag races.

The Sheraton Crecent Hotel is a wonderful, family-friendly resort that the kids will love. Not only is it centrally located and affordable, but during those hot summer months, the hotel also has a large pool with a running waterslide!
Looking for something to do that's both inexpensive and fun? Head over to Kiwanis Park, a 125-acre park with a recreation center and an indoor wave pool! The park also features a tennis center, batting cages, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, volleyball courts and a lake that you can fish in!
To try something a bit different, head over to Firebird International Raceway and watch as drivers compete on 6 different tracks and a lake! The raceway is home to boat races, jet car races, funny car races and more! Event times vary, but Friday nights typically feature drag races.
