OUR TAKE ON FLORENCE
Founded in 1866, Florence is Arizona's fifth oldest city, and today still retains its southern, Mexican charm. Florence still looks very close to how it was over 150 years ago, with most of downtown unchanged. With the University of Arizona located 70 miles north from this town, many visitors flock here every year to vacation.
Unfortunately, this is
not a kid friendly vacation because it is so small and still retains its
past. It is a great spot for a romantic
vacation, and was even the setting for a huge motion picture. We suggest you visit Florence's famous
McFarland State Historic Park, located in downtown Florence. Florence's first courthouse is located here
as well, registered as a Historic Site.
Afterward, travel outside of Florence to take in the breathtaking
scenery. Travel back into Florence to
eat at a classic restaurant. There are
few lodging accommodations in Florence, but it's worth a stay. All lodging accommodations here are
well-maintained, with friendly staff and beautiful, rustic décor. We especially love the classic stores
downtown, which is usually a walk away from any lodging accommodation in
town. If you do consider a vacation in
southern Arizona, travel to Flagstaff for a perfect, romantic destination. For more vacation and general information,
visit Flagstaff's official website.
