Guntersville Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information
Our Take on Guntersville, Alabama
Guntersville vacations will always include a visit at the 69,000-acre Lake Guntersville. The majority of the tourism efforts of the city, including Guntersville lodgings and Guntersville restaurants, promote this bountiful lake. Travelers can go fishing, swimming, and boating. And for those who do not like to get wet or be surrounded by water, the surrounding area around the lake, called the Lake Guntersville State park, offers opportunities for camping, hiking, biking, or even simple picture taking. There also lakeside hammocks that can be used.
And a little bit farther from the lake, travelers can find three public golf courses, a bowling center, a hunting field, and more private campgrounds. For travelers who have a different persuasion, there are also other things to do in Guntersville, such as visiting the Guntersville Museum and watching foreign films at the Guntersville Library. The Guntersville Museum and Cultural Center, which is on Rayburn Avenue, is the repository of various Native American artifacts. It is closed on Mondays, but the admission is free. The Guntersville Public Library is unlike other small town libraries. Aside from the usual books, CDs, DVDs, videos and internet access, the library also conducts a story hour for kids of preschool age as well as holding a foreign film series.
